Announcement and Call for Papers

The British Council, IndiaCALL (The India Association of Computer Assisted Language Learning), ELTAI (English Language Teachers Association India), the IATEFL LTSIG (Learning Technologies Special Interest Group) and the IATEFL GISIG (Global Issues Special Interest Group) are pleased to announce an International Conference of ICT in ELT to be hosted by the H M Patel Institute of English Training and Research in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, India from 7th-8th January 2012 at A D Patel Institute of Technology.

Objectives
  • To raise awareness among ELT professionals of the power of learning technologies to assist with language learning
  • To contribute to the knowledge base as to how learning technologies can be used for English language learning
  • To develop members' expertise in the myriad of uses of learning technologies with their language learners
  • To tap into the knowledge of and network with international ICT in ELT specialists on areas of local concern
  • To promote intercultural dialogue and connect cultures through a shared interest in realizing the objectives of the conference

Target audience

The conference audience will consist of the following groups:
  • teachers, trainers and teacher educators from India, South Asia, and Europe
  • LT SIG, GI SIG, IndiaCALL, ELTAI and, British Council specialists
  • research scholars, and freelancers
  • Teacher association members (regional and international)

Potential speakers

Interested speakers are requested to submit online their paper or workshop abstracts which have to include the following:
  • An abstract (max 75 words)
  • Summary of the session (max 250 words)
  • A short bio-data (max 50 words)
  • A list of equipment needed

Deadlines

  • Submission of abstracts: 20th November 2011. Extended to 10th December 2011.


  • WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING PROPOSALS. ALL ACCEPTANCES SENT.

  • Notification of acceptance: 27th November 2011 for proposal submitted on and before 20th November.Notification of acceptance for proposals submitted between 21st November to 10th December will be made on 12th December.
  • Registration of speakers: 12th December 2011.

Conference Fees

  1. Early bird registration of IndiaCALL and ELTAI Members (registrations on or before 27th November 2011) Rs.1000
  2. Early bird registration for other Indian speakers and delegates(registrations on or before 27th November 2011) Rs.1400
  3. Normal registration for IndiaCALL and ELTAI Members (registrations after 27th November or before 20th December 2011) Rs.1200
  4. Normal registration for other Indian delegates (for registrations after 27th November 2011 or before 20th December 2011) Rs.1800
  5. International speakers and delegates GBP 50
Fee includes registration, conference pack, refreshments and lunch. Accommodation is not included..



PAYMENT METHODS

Conference registration is payable either by Bank Drafts or by Bank Transfers.

BANK DRAFTS should be drawn in favour of H M Patel Institute of English Training and Research. They must be drawn in Indian Rupees only and a scanned copy of the same should be mailed to infoindiacall@gmail.com after submitting the Online Registration Form.

BANK CHARGES

If you are depositing money from India please add Rs. 25 to cover bank charges

If you are depositing money from outside India, please note that you are required to pay an additional fee to cover bank charges. Please also account for any exchange rate differences. The conference organizers will only take into account the amount in Indian Rupees received in our bank account. This must be the same as the appropriate fee. You are not registered for the conference until online registration form is received together with the direct deposit slip.

ALL TYPES OF PAYMENTS made MUST be the fee which will be applicable at the time your registration is received by the conference organizers.

ON-SITE REGISTRATIONS will not be accepted .

Registration and Submission of Proposal

Delegates and speakers must register online using Online Registration Form.

Speakers need to submit their presentation proposals using this Speaker's Proposal Form.

Please note that:

  1. We are unable to reimburse speakers for expenses. All Indian speakers are required to register for the conference and pay the appropriate conference registration fee by demand draft - please refer to the registration form for more details.
  2. All International speakers are responsible for obtaining their own visas for India. Should your proposal be accepted, electronic invitation letters to help with the visa can be sent on request.
  3. All speakers and delegates will be issued with a certificate of participation.
  4. The deadline for proposal submission: 20th November 2011.Now extended to 10th December 2011.
  5. Deadline for speakers registration: 12th December 2011 (if registration is not received then presentation will not be scheduled)
  6. The deadline for registrations for delegates: 20th December 2011.
